Upper Lafayette Impact Coalition

60% of Children who are not prepared to read by 1st grade will end up on jail, or on welfare.

75% of adults read below the 6th grade level; 20% are functionally illiterate.

When parents read to children, the children will be less likely to be involved in drugs, crime, and teen pregnancy; they will do better in school, in their careers, and in life; and reading with children improves both children and parents, strengthening the family.
