The 2026 Louisiana Truck Show (LTS) will host ReadingWithKids.org at the Civic Center & Pavilion in Rayne, Louisiana, at their annual event this weekend. The Acadiana Educational Endowment & RwK will distribute free large signs to anyone with a Commerical Driver’s License/CDL, to place on 18-wheeler trucks and trailers.
This is the 4th annual LTS, and will take place Friday October 23, and Saturday October 24 (click on image at top left for full schedule). LTS is the brain child of Barry Trahan, a professional truck driver. “I do this because of the love I have had for the trucking industry over the past 32 years. I can’t drive anymore, so this is a way to still be a part of the industry. That, and it supports the drivers of our country by putting on a yearly truck show.”
Trahan continues, “The Louisiana Truck Show is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, putting our money into Acadia Parish to support other local charities. Our biggest goal is to fund a project for CASH, Crowley Accessibility Support for the Handicapped, to build an ADA compliant, wheelchair-accessible playground. We estimate that this will cost $360K, and we have raised close to $50K for that.
“We also contribute to The Way Training Center, which helps young men & women who are struggling with addiction; to Ms Helen’s Soup Kitchen, which offers free lunches every Monday, Wednesday & Friday in Crowley; and the Crowley Learning Center which offers free tutoring for adults.”
For the first time this year, LTC is donating a free vendor space to ReadingWithKids.org to distribute 24″ x 36″ signs (seen at right; click for full image) for 18-wheel trucks. It is estimated that the typical 18-wheeler is seen about 1.2M people every year. This is why Trahan invited RwK this year, “This is a great endeavor, and it could be big. 18-wheelers cross the country every day, and if we can get these stickers on the backs of trucks, we can spread this message immensely in the next year, and beyond that.”
The AEE & RwK will be distributing these signs until supplies run out, at which time the organization will take the names & addresses of interested drivers to mail them signs in the immediate future.
