ReadingWithKids.org has two goals: first, to get parents to read with their children, from the prenatal period if possible; and second, to create a general culture of reading in Acadiana.
Our newest program, Reading With Heroes, targets both. By bringing in sports figures and other celebrities to read with children, the children and the community are energized to read.
On Friday, January 23rd, former Ragin’ Cajuns standout and NFL cornerback Keyon Martin returned to Lafayette to read with the children at Alice Boucher Elementary School.
Other athletes and celebrities have agreed to participate in Reading With Heroes to support ReadingWithKids.org with future visits.
